Responsibilities*
Temporary position teaching music classes to 5th - 12th grades at the Summer Vocal Academy of Music at the University of Michigan-Flint, July 7-17, 2026.
The Summer Vocal Academy of Music instructors will teach music classes offered daily in the Academy curriculum ranging from SATB choir, SSA and TTB ensembles, Musical Exploration, and Art. The Academy director will assign specific classes to the selected candidates based on the candidate's experience and qualifications, and the needs of the program.
Candidates must be available every day for the duration of the Academy and for the closing concert on Friday, July 17at 6 pm at the UM-Flint Theater. There is no weekend commitment. Summer Vocal Academy of Music instructor compensation is $1000.00 per class.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor degree in music
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience
- Experience teaching students in grades 5th-12th
- Previous experience teaching at the Summer Vocal Academy is preferred.
Desired Qualifications*
Previously worked with summer music camps.
Modes of Work
Onsite
The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan

Background Screening
