Job Summary

Admissions Ambassadors inform new and prospective students on university policies, opportunities, and regulations, acquaint them with campus surroundings, and address questions and concerns related to the college search process. Admissions Ambassadors typically work from 10-15 hours per week. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is open from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Monday-Friday. In addition to regular shifts, Admissions Ambassadors are required to work 1-2 Saturdays per semester for special events.

Responsibilities*

  • Greet and assist campus visitors, students, and families
  • Answer phones, take messages, and direct inquiries appropriately
  • Prepare and assemble admissions materials and mailings
  • Lead campus tours for prospective students
  • Maintain a clean and organized office environment
  • Support staff with special projects and events
  • Maintain inventory of promotional items and office supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications*

  • Must be a currently enrolled student at the University of Michigan Flint
  • Must be in good academic standing, with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills
  • Friendly and welcoming attitude
  • The ability to communicate effectively with students and other guests from a variety of backgrounds.

Work Schedule

Flexible hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday

Afternoon availability until 5:00 PM is strongly preferred

Between 10-15 hours per week (depending on student availability and department needs)

Position is open during the academic year and possibly the summer semesters

Modes of Work

Onsite
The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan

Background Screening

The University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks. Background checks are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
