Job Summary
The Division of Student Affairs is seeking a creative, outgoing UM-Flint student to join our team as a Marketing and Communications Intern. This position offers hands-on experience in campus marketing, supporting social media, photography, video, digital communications, and event promotion across the division. The intern will report directly to the Communications Specialist for the Division of Student Affairs and collaborate closely with staff and student leaders across campus. The ideal candidate is a student leader with a passion for campus engagement and a flair for messaging, content creation, and visual storytelling.

Responsibilities*
- Collaborate with the DSA Communications Specialist to brainstorm, create, and schedule content for Student Affairs channels (social media, web, email, newsletter, print)
- Capture photos and video at Student Affairs events; assist with editing and curating visual content
- Develop fun, engaging ideas to promote Student Affairs programs, services, and events
- Support digital marketing campaigns and social media collaborations with campus partners and student organizations
- Assist in drafting posts, writing stories, and sharing campus news for Wolverine Weekly and other platforms
- Represent Student Affairs at campus activities; serve as a brand ambassador and peer connector
- Stay current on trends and bring fresh ideas to the team
- Organize digital files and meet deadlines on assigned projects
- Join brainstorming sessions and staff meetings as needed
Required Qualifications*
- UM-Flint student, enrolled for Fall 2025, minimum 2.5 GPA
- Experience in social media, photo, video, or communications (or strong interest in learning)
- Strong writing and verbal skills
- Collaborative, positive, and energetic attitude
- Well-organized; can manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to work independently and receive constructive feedback
Desired Qualifications*
- Photography and/or video editing experience
- Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere)
- Familiarity with social media platforms and analytics tools
- Experience in student leadership, campus clubs, or event planning
Work Schedule
- This position is for the 2025-2026 academic year
- 10-20 hours per week
- Work hours may include daytime, evenings and weekends
Modes of Work
Hybrid:
The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.

Background Screening
