POSITION SUMMARY
The Master Scheduler will lead the transformation of our production planning environment from reactive, spreadsheet‑based scheduling to a fully integrated Master Production Schedule (MPS) and a mature Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
This role supports the Materials Manager and collaborates closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Project Management, and Operations to create material‑aligned, capacity‑feasible schedules for our engineered‑to‑order (ETO) products—including large rooftop air‑handling units, Flex Air systems, pump stations, water‑cooled piping modules, and modular electrical substations. These projects involve oversized steel structures, heavy piping, electrical gear, and crane‑managed material flow.
The Master Scheduler will be responsible for bringing discipline, predictability, and visibility to our planning environment and ensuring that all functions operate from one unified plan.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Master Production Schedule (MPS) Development
Develop, own, and maintain the company’s Master Production Schedule.
Build time‑phased schedules integrating demand, engineering release dates, material readiness, and production capacity.
Maintain rolling 8–13 week production schedules for all fabrication, weld, assembly, mechanical, piping, electrical, and testing operations.
Identify schedule conflicts and proactively resolve capacity or material constraints.
Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)
Lead the creation and execution of the monthly S&OP process, reporting under the Materials Manager.
Align sales forecasts, engineering release plans, procurement status, and bay/crane capacity.
Prepare S&OP dashboards, KPIs, and risk summaries for leadership review.
Cross‑Functional Coordination
Act as the scheduling liaison between Engineering, Supply Chain, Materials Handling, Production, and Project Management.
Facilitate weekly cross‑functional planning reviews to align priorities and risks.
Ensure all teams operate from the current version of the schedule.
Material Readiness
Establish Material Readiness Gates to ensure jobs do not start without critical path components staged.
Partner with Purchasing, Receiving, and Material Handling to confirm availability and staging of long‑lead items.
Communicate shortages and material risks to the Materials Manager and operations leadership.
Capacity Planning & Resource Modeling
Analyze capacity by work center, bay, crane, and labor skillset.
Develop forward‑looking labor and machine loading plans.
Recommend overtime, shift adjustments, or outsourcing when needed.
Production Monitoring & Reporting
Track and report schedule adherence and production progress weekly.
Provide actionable insights to the Materials Manager and Production leadership.
Highlight bottlenecks, constraints, delays, and engineering release impacts.
ERP Integration (Global Shop Solutions)
Support the Materials Manager in the future implementation of MRP, scheduling, and WIP modules.
Create the foundational structure (locations, flow rules, discipline) required prior to ERP go‑live.
Align the physical workflow with ERP system expectations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) strongly preferred.
Experience
7–10+ years of experience in Master Scheduling or Production Planning.
Experience in engineered‑to‑order (ETO), modular construction, custom HVAC, large mechanical equipment, or industrial fabrication required.
Prior experience implementing or improving an MPS and/or S&OP process preferred.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of MRP‑II, capacity planning, and scheduling logic.
Proficiency with ERP systems (GSS experience a plus).
Advanced Excel skills and experience with scheduling software.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, routings, and project plans.
