Who We Want
Miller Industries is seeking an AI Development Intern to work in Fenton, MI for the summer of 2026. This intern will support the design, development, and implementation of AI-driven solutions to automate business tasks and enhance existing systems. They will assist in gathering requirements, analyzing workflows, and collaborating with team members to determine optimal AI-based approaches. The intern will help maintain and improve internal APIs and data pipelines, while contributing to the development of efficient, scalable, and production-ready- AI-powered tools in a timely manner.
What You Will Be Doing
  • Assist in defining requirements for internal AI tools by analyzing business processes and identifying automation opportunities.
  • Support planning and architectural design of foundational AI systems and infrastructure.
  • Research and evaluate AI technologies, frameworks, and models suitable for business use cases.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to gather functional and technical requirements.
  • Help document system designs, workflows, data requirements, and implementation plans.
  • Participate in prototyping and testing small AI or automation components.
  • Assist with data preparation, validation, and structuring for future AI model development.
  • Contribute to planning scalable data pipelines and integration strategies.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation for internal AI initiatives
  • Written and oral communication skills required, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to express concepts and ideas with clarity.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Proven strong contributor with the capability to work independently.

What Requirements Are Needed
Education: Full-time student status in a 4-year program majoring in Data Science or Computer Science, or related technical field is required. Preference will be given to candidates at the Junior or Senior status.
Experience: Prior education and/or experience programming in Python and a basic familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • Must be able to translate business needs into system requirements.
  • Time management, planning, organizational, and analytical skills are required.
  • Must be self-motivated, willing to take initiative, and able to function effectively in independent and team-based situations.
  • Written and oral communication skills required, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to express concepts and ideas with clarity.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Proven strong contributor with the capability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated coding ability, especially in Python and basic SQL usage.
  • Understanding of core programming concepts such as algorithms, data structures, and logical problem solving.
  • Exposure to machine learning tools or frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs), prompt design concepts, or AI experimentation is a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a desire to develop intelligent systems that support real business decisions.
