Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency in a second language, Chinese preferred.
  • Experience with student information and management systems, such as Banner, Terra Dotta, Via, Slate.
  • Master’s degree in higher education administration, international education, program management, or related fields.
  • Experience with managing MOUs and/or partnership agreements/contracts.
  • Knowledge of U.S regulations on J and B visas and experience working with the SEVIS system.
Job Specific Required Qualifications
  • Required qualifications include 2-4 years of professional student services work which includes experience advising students, planning and executing small and large scale programs and activities, and in analysis and resolution of complex student challenges. Experience in a related field and/or in planning and executing professional development or other client-based complex programs may be considered in place of student services experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field, or over 5 years experience in related positions.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency and ability to pass criminal background check as mandated by federal regulations for J-1 Responsible Officers.
  • Experience with basic computer and software programs.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
  • Experience living or studying abroad. Or, sufficient in-country intercultural training and experience to effectively work with students and professionals from various backgrounds and cultures.
  • Driver’s License and ability to drive for university functions when department requires.

Duties
This position oversees all operational aspects of Kettering’s International Education Programs (IEP). IEP programs are professional development programs offered to organizations overseas looking to provide professional development in various STEM and Business fields to their employees. These IEP programs can occur virtually or in-person and the length ranges from 1-day programs to 6+ month programs. Currently, the majority of IEP Programs occur with partners in China.

This position will facilitate these programs, from contract and program structure discussions with interested companies to managing the planning and execution of program logistics. Responsibilities include:
  • Develop and maintain websites and marketing materials;
  • Facilitate contract/agreement review and execution;
  • Create and oversee program agendas, budgets, and activities;
  • Prepare invitation letters and visa documents and maintain the delegates’ J-1 SEVIS records;
  • Facilitate logistics, such as housing, registration, arrival activities, transportation, meal plans, conference registration and travel, and other related items;
  • Work with Faculty coordinators to plan and execute academic, cultural, and experiential activities of the programs;
  • Provide day-to-day non-academic advising to delegates;
  • Coordinate with other University departments/units such as Career Services, Graduate School, Registrar, and Housing departments;
  • Review and recommend updates to institutional policies related to the IEP program;
  • Assist with marketing and growth of IEP opportunities;
  • Other duties and responsibilities as they relate to this area of responsibility.

Duties
This position oversees all operational aspects of incoming exchange student and scholar programs and day-to-day responsibilities. Responsibilities include:
  • Maintain and develop websites and student software programs (e.g. TerraDotta/Via) for the incoming exchange programs and work with partner institutions to maintain marketing materials, provide information sessions, and manage student nomination processes;
  • Prepare visa documents for incoming exchange students and scholars and maintain their J-1 SEVIS records;
  • Facilitate logistics, such as housing, registration, and matriculation of incoming exchange students;
  • Facilitate incoming student and scholar orientation sessions related to the exchange program and assist with the overall orientation week programs and activities;
  • Fulfill role as Alternate Responsible Officer or Responsible Officer, including maintaining compliance activities such as J-1 annual reports and biannual redesignation;
  • Provide exchange students and scholars with day-to-day advising, plan and execute cultural activities, and provide information sessions;
  • Coordinate with other University departments/units such as Career Services, Graduate School, Registrar, and Housing departments;
  • Review and recommend updates to institutional policies related to the J-1 exchange visitor program;
  • Develop new programs and services;
  • Other duties and responsibilities as they relate to this area of responsibility.

Duties
  • Supporting other staff and their programs when needed;
  • Assist with student walk-ins;
  • Potentially hold DSO backup role;
  • Assist with other major events, such as international orientation, information sessions, commencement, and other large university events;
  • Assist with international visits;
  • Other duties as assigned.
