Following established procedures, operates a computerized cash register and makes required change for visitors and employees eating in the Medical Center Cafeteria. Prepares related records. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Complies with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior. Works under the supervision of the Cafeteria/Catering Manager or designee who reviews work for conformance with established standards.

• High school and/or GED equivalent.
• Working knowledge of business English, spelling and commercial arithmetic.
• Reasonable knowledge of office practices and procedures.
• Ability to write legibly.
• Ability to make rapid and accurate arithmetic calculations and tabulations.
• Ability to maintain and keep clerical records and to prepare reports from such records.
• Ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

1. Sets up to receive customers by obtaining cash and changers from vault, counting cash and filling changers, placing tapes and ribbons in register, and opening cafeteria.
2. Operates computerized cash register with keys listing items sold. Receives cash and makes required change for visitors and employees eating in cafeteria.
3. Accounts for cash at end of each meal by verifying tapes, posting necessary adjustments, and balancing cash drawers. Turns in cafeteria report to supervisor.
4. Monitors cafeteria vending machines and, when necessary, gives refunds, removes cash, and places out of order signs on machines.
5. Runs Jazzman's Cafe cash register and prepares made to order beverages and services customers for coffee shop. Opens and closes Jazzman's Cafe with all set up, service, and breakdown.
6. Returns cash drawers and changers to vault at end of shift. Purchases change as necessary from Cashier's Office.
7. Upon direction of supervisor, maintains price and portion guide. May make simple food cost calculations.
8. Refills and restocks cafeteria and Jazzman's Cafe supplies and machines. Maintains tables, counters, and other areas as required.
9. Performs sanitation tasks in compliance with environment of care and regulatory agency standards; e.g., cleaning and sanitizing juice machines, soda pop stations, frozen yogurt machine, and coffee and cappuccino machines; cleaning serving areas including plexi-glass surrounding salad bar and soup areas; emptying overflow drains in beverage stations.
10. Performs other related duties as required. Utilizes new improvements and/or technology that relate to job assignment.
