Performs a variety of routine and repetitive tasks such as cleaning various assigned work areas and items; storing and delivering equipment and supplies; stocking shelves, storerooms, and restrooms; operating equipment; and running errands. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Complies with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior. Works under the supervision of the department head or designee who observes and checks work for conformance with established standards.

1. Cleans a variety of assigned areas such as food preparation and service areas, restrooms, equipment, and furniture and furnishings.


2. Stores/stocks, inventories, and delivers e.g., supplies and equipment including foodstuffs, prescriptions, and linens to their appropriate destinations.


3. Operates various equipment and machinery which may include maintaining and operating autoclaves in the sterilization of containers and utensils, vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, and office equipment. Makes minor repairs.


4. Runs errands such as picking up and delivering forms, lists, reports, and so forth.


5. Transports soiled and clean linen to and from the laundry area; sorts and weighs linens; loads and unloads washers and dryers; keeps daily records of various laundry functions.


6. Moves a variety of items such as furniture and furnishings and trash containers.


7. Demonstrates effective judgment and ability to understand, react competently, and treat (if appropriate) the unique needs of patient age groups served.
