Revenue Cycle Training Specialist- Hybrid

Designs, implements and maintains effective training programs for Hurley Medical Center’s Revenue Cycle teams, workflows, and applications. Provides training to staff within the department, virtually, or at various sites around the enterprise. Uses proven methodologies, including needs analysis, to design, develop, implement, and evaluate system training. Assists in tracking and monitoring of performance of the revenue cycle functions as they pertain to training, user education, and positive patient experience. Performs ongoing quality monitoring of revenue cycle workflows performed within the department and enterprise wide to ensure consistency and compliance with payer and hospital policies and procedures. Identifies, communicates, and participates in resolving operational deficiencies that impact revenue cycle workflows. Establishes positive relationships with administrators and providers as well as revenue cycle department team members to deliver an effective training program to the enterprise. Complies with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior.
Works under the supervision of a Revenue Cycle Director who checks and reviews work for effectiveness and conformance to established standards. Provides direction to lower-level employees in relation to training and user guidance.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree required (in a healthcare-related field preferred).
- Two (2) years of experience in one or more Revenue Cycle areas: Professional Billing, Hospital Billing, Payment Posting, Patient Registration/Scheduling, and Authorizations in a healthcare setting. Additional years of experience may substitute for up to two (2) years of education for candidates with an associate's degree or ones actively pursuing a bachelor's degree (must have a minimum of 60 college credits).
- Knowledge of training techniques, including virtual, hands-on, and computer-based training as well as group dynamics and facilitation.
- Working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office products
- Knowledge of medical terminology, coding, and billing principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work with computers and computer applications and files. Ability to compile and analyze data to submit data in report format to draw conclusions.
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills. Ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks in a manner that ensures efficient workflow and meets established deadlines. Possesses efficient time-management skills and proven ability to multitask under tight deadlines
- Ability to facilitate a congenial and professional working relationship with internal and external vendors, customers, peers, and superiors.
ADDITIONAL NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver’s license and transportation to travel to/from off-site facilities and affiliates.
- Must obtain Hurley Revenue Cycle Credentialed Trainer status within 6 months of employment.
- Design and implement training curriculum as needed by the department to help facilitate changes imposed by system functionality, payer guidelines, fixes to system issues, departmental workflows, or system upgrades.
- Maintain established training materials to ensure relevancy and accuracy for our end users. In addition, make training materials available electronically (e.g. on departmental google site) to allow for the most up to date access.
- Conduct successful training for end users within the department as well as across the enterprise. Adapt training material based on the needs of the trainee.
- Learn the necessary workflows in order to deliver effective training to the end-user. Apply training to real-life scenarios.
- Maintain an annual competency training log for the assigned teams to ensure compliance with our hospital policies and procedures.
- Administer proficiency testing to end users to ensure full compliance in related workflow. Communicate learning deficiencies timely to the end user's direct supervisor.
- Proactively construct and deliver written communication regarding relevant updates and changes as needed to end users and/or leadership teams.
- Utilize the Epic EMR system efficiently and effectively in order to provide sufficient knowledge & guidance to the end users. Make use of Epic resources such as the UserWeb, Galaxy, Nova, and other Epic environments.
- Perform data collection through routine job shadowing, and systems analysis, to identify potential problems, opportunities, and efficiencies impacting the revenue cycle areas. Determine the source of the issue and take appropriate action.
- Maintain the revenue cycle Google site and Epic learning dashboards with up-to-date information.
- Complete Epic Claim Edit, Discharge Not Billed (DNB), and/or Stop Bill reviews and corrections to ensure timely billing and to maintain established account receivable targets. Communicate patterns or trends identified to the department leadership for escalation or training purposes.
- Support and troubleshoot all revenue cycle systems, software, and equipment related to both onsite and remote employees. Act as a liaison between end-users, leadership, and IT.
- Act as liaison between Medical Center and software vendors. Assist in maintaining the flow of Real Time Eligibility, Claims, and/or Electronic Remittance processes and coordinate any issues or delays with appropriate vendors and/or teams.
- Provide end-user support by way of flexible scheduling, and on-call coverage.
- Perform other related duties as required. Utilizes new improvements and/or technology that relate to job assignment.
