Job Description

Receives, stores, and delivers supplies and/or equipment departmentally and hospital-wide. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Complies with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior. Works under the supervision of the Storeroom Supervisor or designee who reviews performance for accuracy and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  1. Receives supplies on receiving dock; e.g., unloading trucks and storing supplies in properly segregated areas in neat and organized manner.

  2. Loads and delivers special order supplies from receiving area to all departments within Medical Center complex.

  3. Delivers requisitioned supplies from warehouse to all departments within Medical Center complex.

  4. Participates in weekly storeroom cycle counting and yearly storeroom physical inventory.

  5. Uses handheld devices to capture signatures for delivery of all special order supplies.

  6. Loads and transports furniture and equipment to all departments within Medical Center complex and to off-site locations.

  7. Puts received warehouse stock in the proper pre-assigned location.

  8. Loads and transports records for appropriate storage from all departments within Medical Center complex.

  9. Operates hospital vehicles, forklift and pallet jacks.

  10. Operates compactor and baler for removal of waste and cardboard boxes.

  11. Assists with training/orientation of newly hired departmental personnel.

  12. Performs other related duties as required/assigned. Utilizes new improvements and/or technologies that relate to job assignment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Familiarity with storeroom items, supplies, and warehousing practices.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to keep simple records.
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations accurately.
  • Adequate strength to do heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious and effective working relationships with co-workers, Medical Center employees, physicians, visitors, and the general public.
  • NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license with chauffeur endorsement.
