Environmental Services Supv - 2nd Shift
Job Description
Directs and supervises the activities of employees engaged in cleaning and other services to maintain the Medical Center in an orderly, sanitary, and attractive condition. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Ensures compliance with all appropriate safety and infection control procedures. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior and Management Code of Conduct. Works under the supervision of the Director of Environmental Services or designee who assigns work and makes periodic inspections for compliance with Medical Center standards. Exercises working supervision over a number of Environmental Services employees.
Responsibilities
- Prepares daily work assignments and adjusts work schedules for assigned Environmental Services staff to ensure adequate coverage of routine and special cleaning assignments. Coordinates work activities with construction and various department schedules.
- Monitors, and evaluates work of employees. Recommends, develops, monitors, and ensures adherence to policies and procedures to accomplish agreed-upon departmental objectives. Maintains efficient productivity and customer satisfaction standards.
- Develops staffing and work schedules for employees. Approves leaves, vacations, personal days, and overtime. Accurately computes and signs time cards.
- Interviews, hires, evaluates, disciplines, and, when necessary, recommends discharge of staff. Completes performance appraisals in timely manner. Answers grievances.
- Identifies, plans, and assists in orientation and in servicing/continuing education of personnel. Trains employees in special and routine cleaning procedures utilized in all areas of the Medical Center. Trains employees in use of new products, equipment, procedures. Documents all in-service training given to Environmental Services staff.
- Assists director in development of departmental objectives, operating, and capital budgets.
- Inspects and participates in the cleaning of assigned Medical Center area(s). Ensures that work of subordinates meet quality assurance standards. When necessary, issues corrective instructions and conducts follow-up inspections to ensure compliance. Documents rounds findings in report log.
- Inspects assigned Medical Center areas to determine cleaning and maintenance needs. Prepares maintenance work requests of needed repairs and replacements.
- Receives inquiries and complaints from Medical Center personnel. Provides information, resolves complaints, and/or channels information to the departmental director or designee.
- Requisitions and issues cleaning equipment and supplies to employees. Controls supply usage and daily man-hour budget.
- Checks supplies and equipment. Prepares a written evaluation of new items for department management. Requisitions supplies and equipment as needed.
- Maintains records of work performed and prepares special reports as necessary.
- Performs work of lower-level departmental employees as appropriate.
- Performs other related duties as required. Utilizes new improvements and/or technology that relate to job assignment.
