Assumes overall responsibility for facilitating and coordinating the clinical documentation program and serves as resource to the physicians and clinical coding staff. Identifies factors influencing the complexity of the patient's diagnosis and treatment plan; works collaboratively with physicians to improve the quality of clinical record documentation. Assists care providers to enhance clinical data integrity. Reports to the Supervisor, Clinical Documentation.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Registered Nurse (RN), BSN preferred with current Michigan licensure.
- Demonstrated clinical competence as evidenced by 3-5 years clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting, preferably critical care.
- Basic PC knowledge. Knowledge of ICD-9 Coding Guidelines preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequent mental/visual strain from constant review of medical records.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an acute care setting along with a normal office environment.
