Description

We are currently seeking a full-time Transportation Coordinator for our Construction Division located in Flint, Michigan. The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating company drivers and transportation resources to ensure the timely and efficient movement of materials, tools, and equipment between the warehouse, fabrication shop, and active jobsites. This role plays a key part in maintaining project timelines by optimizing delivery schedules, monitoring transportation activities, and proactively addressing logistical challenges.

Requirements

• Schedules and dispatches truck drivers for material, tool, and equipment deliveries between the warehouse, fabrication shop, and jobsites.

• Coordinates delivery sequencing and routing to meet project schedules confirmed by the Warehouse/Truck Driver Manager, Fabrication Foreman, and Material Support Specialist.

• Communicates delivery status, delays, and rerouting needs to drivers, warehouse staff, and field supervision in real time.

• Maintains dispatch logs and coordinates with DOT Support on driver hours-of-service and vehicle compliance documentation.

• Tracks vehicle and driver availability and flags scheduling conflicts to the Warehouse/Truck Driver Manager.

• Coordinates with Shipping/Receiving/Storage staff on inbound and outbound material timing.

• Maintains accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and driver assignments.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• 1-3 years of dispatch, logistics, or scheduling experience; construction or trades industry experience preferred.

• Familiarity with DOT hours-of-service rules and basic fleet/dispatch software preferred.

• Clear, professional communication with drivers, warehouse staff, and field personnel.

• Comfortable using dispatch/scheduling software along with standard office software (email, spreadsheets).

• Ability to resolve routing and scheduling conflicts in real time.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

• Primarily an office/warehouse setting.

• Frequent phone- and radio-based coordination with drivers in the field.

• Standard office physical demands; occasional warehouse walk-throughs.
