General Statement:

The Medical Director is responsible for the coordination and oversight of all services provided by GCHC medical providers and for the quality of services rendered. Medical Director also serves as a member of the administrative staff. Creates a culture of accountability and commitment to the delivery of high-quality care. Collaborates with GCHC CEO, and other Leadership Team and key staff regarding the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of a clinical Quality Assurance (QA) program for the community health center. The clinical QA program will include the appropriate monitoring of care received, the development of policies and procedures, and the development of means for assured compliance with GCHC policies in a manner that effectively minimizes risk for the health center. Integrates the measurement of clinical quality and service standards with those of strategic planning and operations management. Creates a culture of safety, quality and customer service while building the business growth of the Center. Utilizes continuous quality improvement (CQI) process to identify opportunities for patient flow, scheduling changes, etc. Provides recommendations to CEO for discussion with Board of Directors regarding services/programs to be offered, delivery sites, and hours of operation. Ensures proper functioning of day-to-day clinical operations in concert with the CEO and/or Clinical Director. Delivers ambulatory care. Occasional travel required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Year(s) of Experience

M.D. or D.O. degree with approved residency in Primary Care; Board Certified in a primary care specialty.

Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) required training.

Possession, before hire, of a valid State of Michigan license for the practice of allopathic or osteopathic medicine. Current DEA license or ability to obtain upon hire.

Five (5) years practice experience in primary care, including clinical treatment, program management, and administration.

Additional Requirements:

Valid Michigan Driver’s license, valid automobile insurance and use of a vehicle during working hours.

Preferences:

Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center.

Experience with persons of co-occurring medical, mental health and/or substance abuse disorders.

Prefer experience in primary care and in serving patients from low-income economic status.

  • Vision – Position requires the ability to visually assess details at both near and far distances, as well as to perceive depth and spatial relationships with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Lifting, Standing, and Walking With or Without Reasonable Accommodations:
    • Position requires the ability to lift up to 35lbs on an occasional basis
    • Position requires the ability to regularly stand for extended periods of time
    • Position requires the ability to walk at a minimum of 35% up to a maximum of 65%
  • Position will require the ability to occasionally stoop, bend, or reach to perform work tasks with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Position must be able to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, including the use of hands and fingers for handling, grasping, typing, writing, or operating equipment with or without reasonable accommodation.
