General Statement:

Works under the direction/supervision of the Unit/Program Supervisor, performs paraprofessional activities in instructing clients in basic personal and social skills or in work-related social and personal activities; performs related work as required.

Minimum Requirements:

Two (2) years of college, including a minimum of twenty (20) credit hours in psychology, counseling, education, sociology, social work, or any combination of the preceding

OR

High school graduation or equivalent AND one (1) year paraprofessional experience working with persons with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities.

Additional Requirements:

Must have successfully completed all modules/areas of a Michigan Department of Community Health-approved Direct Care Worker Curriculum/Training Program.

Non-certified individuals will be considered, but must achieve certification within six (6) months of hire.

Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license, including a chauffeur’s license, and be willing to transport clients in agency vehicles to various community activities.

Will consider a candidate without a chauffer’s license, but must obtain one within thirty (30) days of hire.

Veterans must submit Form DD214 to determine eligibility for Veterans’ Preference
