Master’s in Social Work
| Michigan Master’s Level Social Worker (LMSW) credential. Will consider a candidate with a Limited License as a Masters Level Social Worker (LLMSW) credential.
| One (1) year experience working with individual with mental illness, severe emotional disturbances and/or developmental disabilities.
| The employee with a Limited License must take and pass the ASWB Examination within six (6) years in accordance with the State of Michigan requirements to retain employment. The employee with an LLMSW must also make application for the LMSW upon passing the ASWB exam. Note: GHS will follow all state of Michigan requirements. If the requirements change, the job description will be updated to reflect such changes. All licensed clinical staff must maintain licensure as a condition of employment. |
Master’s in Counseling | Michigan Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Will consider a candidate with a Limited License as a counselor in Michigan (LLC) credential (formerly LLPC) | One (1) year experience working with individual with mental illness, severe emotional disturbances and/or developmental disabilities. | The employee with a Limited License must take and pass the National Counselor Examination (NCE) within six (6) years of hire to retain employment. Master’s in Psychology | Michigan Limited License Psychologist (LLP) credential. Will consider a candidate with a Temporary Limited License Psychologist (TLLP) | One (1) year experience working with individual with mental illness, severe emotional disturbances and/or developmental disabilities. | The employee with a TLLP must pass the Exam for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPP) AND make application for the LLP within 18 months of hire OR prior to the expiration of the TLLP, whichever is sooner to retain employment. |
Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy | Michigan Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) credential. Will consider a candidate with a Limited License as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LLMFT) | One (1) year experience working with individual with mental illness, severe emotional disturbances and/or developmental disabilities. | The employee with an LLMFT must take and pass the AMFTRB Examination in Marital & Family Therapy within six (6) years of hire to retain employment. The employee with an LLMFT must also make application for the LMFT upon passing the exam. |

Additional Requirements:
Willing to participate in frequent team consultation and supervision group meetings.
Willing to attend all required trainings as scheduled by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) or the agency.
Must be willing to work with adults, adolescents, and children, with mild, moderate, or severe mental illness or individuals with an intellectual disability. Individuals may also have co-occurring needs involving substance use disorders and may also have a significant history of trauma.
Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and use of a vehicle during working hours.
Must be credentialed or eligible for credentialing through Michigan Certified Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) or register for a Development Plan to become a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) through the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) within 30 days of hire.
As THIRD PARTY insurance may be billed by this position, employee MUST MEET THIRD PARTY REQUIREMENTS according to professional scope.
Must have training and clinical experience delivering evidence based therapy modalities such as, but not limited to Motivational Interviewing (MI), DBT, Prolonged Exposure (PE), CBT, TFCBT, FPE, and TREM
Experience delivering services to persons with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, with credentials(s) recognized by the MDHHS.
Must obtain and retain MDHHS qualifications as a Child Mental Health Professional.
Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferences:
Experience delivering behavior therapies.
General Statement:
Under the direction of the designated Program Supervisor, delivers outpatient individual, family and group therapy as a primary or secondary provider in accordance with EBP model expectations, and provides crisis intervention and disposition consistent with the principles and protocols of EBP being provided; performs related work as required.
Statement of Tasks:
- Implements all clinical practices in accordance with principles of evidence based practices and models of care. This includes attitudes and values, as well as knowledge and skills;
- Conducts psychosocial assessment including the use screening tools and any approved or required assessment tools (such as the PHQ9, CSSRS, ASAM, etc.), review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identify systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of the consumers’ strengths and needs within the EBP model;
- Implements a problem conceptualization, treatment plan, intervention implementation, outcome review and strategy revisions procedure using EBP principles and protocols;
- Maintains clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote supervisor review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with the EBP model and all agency standards for documentation;
- Collaborates with all relevant systems and key participants within each system to ensure their buy-in and cooperation throughout the consumer’s treatment, including but not limited to:
- Courts
- Crisis Services Providers
- Hospital liaisons and hospital discharge planners
- Psychiatrists and other prescribers
- Primary care physicians
- Secondary providers such as residential or clubhouse
- Natural supports
- Peers
- Provides direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with EBP principles and protocols, e.g. IMR, TREM, and others;
- Participates in all EBP triaging, supervision, and consultation activities designed for model fidelity and professional development, as directed by the designated program supervisor;
- Maintains caseload volume as required by the program with the per-consumer level of intensity required by the model;
- Actively manages discharge planning and step-down from caseloads in accordance with the model protocol;
- Achieves measureable positive outcomes consistent with the EBP research, such as reduced inpatient days, less treatment drop out, less self-harm, improved social adjustment, and improved GAS.
