MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

One (1) year of experience in building, grounds or equipment maintenance or operation of a vacuum truck;

-OR-

Six (6) months of seasonal parks maintenance experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid unrestricted Michigan driver's license with CDL-B with air brake and tank endorsement and good driving record within six (6) months of employment. Failure to obtain such certification shall be just cause for termination of employment.

Must be willing to work weekends, holidays and irregular hours.

Must be courteous in dealing with the general public and fellow staff members.

Must be willing to wear prescribed work uniform.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to perform Essential Job Duties and Functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

JOB SUMMARY: Performs a variety of semi-skilled park maintenance tasks which require manipulative skills; operates a variety of light equipment and machinery including but not limited to trucks, tractors and mowers; vacuums porta-johns and vault toilets in all Parks facilities; works under the supervision of a higher classified employee and may be required to provide direction to seasonal employees; performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:

  • Vacuums porta-johns and vault toilets in all Parks facilities
  • Gathers refuse and rubbish from park areas
  • Assists in making minor repairs to buildings and equipment
  • Performs routine custodial work in park buildings and equipment
  • Performs semi-skilled duties in the construction and repair of park projects
