MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent -AND- two (2) years' of clerical experience -AND- two (2) years' laboratory experience. Lab experience in bacteriological water testing, including coliform and fecal coliform preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.

JOB SUMMARY: Performs responsible and varied clerical and selected laboratory duties including verification of complete sample requisitions for laboratory tests (i.e., coliform and fecal coliforms water testing); work is performed at the Health Department under supervision. Performs related work as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:

  • Utilizes various office and laboratory equipment;
  • Provides clients with assistance in completing forms and understanding information;
  • Reviews and maintains environmental health and laboratory records;
  • Prepares environmental health samples and information for laboratory testing and reports findings daily to appropriate environmental health staff;
  • Performs laboratory screening on samples;
  • Works with environmental staff regarding all programs;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
