The Genesee County Board of Commissioners is seeking individuals interested in serving their community on the various Boards, Committees, Commissions and Agencies. This application provides the Board of Commissioners with basic information about yourself.
Committee Description
The Board of County Commissioners created an Opioid Settlement Steering Committee to aid in directing spending of opioid settlement dollars. These initial appointments will be for staggered terms, consistent with the Committee's Bylaws. Each subsequent appointment will be for a 3-year term.
The establishment of the Opioid Settlement Steering Team was approved by the Genesee County Board of Commissioners in 2025 to guide local prevention, treatment, and recovery programs using settlement funds.
The 11-member Opioid Settlement Steering Committee, according to its bylaws, is required to include at least one member with professional expertise in each of the following areas:

Substance Use Disorder

Behavioral Health
-
Healthcare (including hospitals)
-
Public Safety
-
Judicial System
At this time, the only professional expertise seat currently open is the Healthcare (including hospitals) seat.
In addition, the Committee includes two seats reserved for individuals with lived experience with substance use disorder and three at-large seats for individuals regardless of category; however, these seats are not currently open.
