Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Flint Engine on a full-time basis.
The Role:
The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for overall plant Lean Material Strategies including material flow, material routings, storage space requirements, mobile equipment, layout development, container development, storage areas, kitting, small lot strategy, sequence planning, PFEP, etc. Work is of a technical nature focused on complex manufacturing processes that involve understanding the assembly environment. The selected candidate will work with all levels of a cross functional team to drive continuous improvement, support steady state improvements, and drive established best practices into the assembly plant.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Standardize material flow and material handling processes and measure plant compliance
Standardize Internal Benchmarks for material flow and material handling processes
Calculate HC opportunity-based plant and regional gaps to IBM
Institutionalize best practices and measure plant and regional compliance
Route Planning, Dock Strategies, Material Flow, etc.
Support the Manufacturing Launch and Program Team
Develop and apply Lean Material Strategies (LMS) to design standards
Drive & execute common standards, processes, and lean designs
Integrate Lean Manufacturing and GM-Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles
Support PFMEA process
Drive problem solving issues for throughput and quality issues
Support BIQ objectives
Analyze existing operations and propose continuous improvements (CI)
Optimize floor space, materials, personnel, and equipment
Monitor adherence to recommended safety procedures and ergonomic guidelines
Facilities design, layout, and processes that reduce cost/ achieve operational efficiencies
Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience (4 years)
3 years of Industrial Engineering experience
Experience optimizing the flow of materials and processes within a manufacturing environment
Proficient with AutoCAD, Factory CAD or equivalent
Excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and difficult projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
High level of analytical ability & problem solving where problems are unusual and difficult
Knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes
Knowledge of supply chain process
Ability to work off-shift and over-time as needed

3+ years of Industrial Engineering experience
Experience working in a manufacturing environment
Proficient in GMOS and GM Standard Time Data
