Position Summary
The primary function of this role includes the development and implementation of talent and workforce development initiatives in alignment with the goals of Flint & Genesee Group’s Education & Talent division. Such initiatives include developing and supporting programming to attract, retain, and develop talent in Flint & Genesee. These initiatives sit at the intersection between lifestyle and career in Flint & Genesee and rely heavily on strong collaboration with internal and external partners.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct research through internal and external stakeholders to develop a business training program that meets organizational and workforce and employer needs.
- Identify, contact, and secure facilitators for business trainings programming.
- Facilitate business training meetings and provide on-site assistance to facilitators and attendees.
- Support the planning and execution of events and conferences for the Flint & Genesee Education & Talent division.
- Assist with elements of the regional talent attraction campaign, Make Your Move in Flint & Genesee, including communication with HR professionals and individuals looking to relocate to/work in Flint & Genesee. This may include one-on-one meetings with prospective employees and their families, community tours, phone calls, emails, resource sharing, and ongoing follow-up communication as needed.
- Assist with Education & Talent’s intern program (Flinterns), including student placement, employer recruiting and training, and community immersion event planning. Our Flinterns initiative aims to enhance the summer internship experience for local interns by helping them explore Flint & Genesee and grow as professionals.
- Collaborate with marketing to develop and execute targeted marketing campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to identify and execute opportunities to scale existing programs.
- Participate in career fairs and events to help promote regional assets and job opportunities.
- Maintain positive working relationships with areas schools, colleges, and other business partners.
- Assist in special projects, assignments and events as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Support the overall mission, vision, and goals of Flint & Genesee Education & Talent through action and intent.
Key Credentials and Personal Qualities
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience in a related position.
- Acts with personal, professional, and behavioral integrity.
- Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to present with impact.
- Detail oriented and able to prioritize and support multiple projects and tasks.
- Ability to work independently, manage time and tasks well, and problem solve effectively.
- Demonstrate an understanding of planning, organizing, delegating, directing, and controlling work tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Local travel to off-site locations required.
