GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Planetarium Presenter is responsible for presenting public programming at the Longway Planetarium. Presenting modalities will include the fixed and portable planetarium. This is a part-time position consisting of up to 30 hours per week. Evening and weekend availability are required. The starting rate for this position is $12.50 to $15.00 per hour, based upon experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Start up and shut down planetarium system.
- Presenting planetarium shows during normal business hours in addition to special events such as weddings, birthday parties and business meetings.
- Maintaining a clean work space in the console area in the dome.
- Engaging with the public about astronomical topics.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to speak to the public in a performance type capacity.
- Ability to work with children.
- Astronomy knowledge preferred.
- Computer experience preferred.
