GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Planetarium Presenter is responsible for presenting public programming at the Longway Planetarium. Presenting modalities will include the fixed and portable planetarium. This is a part-time position consisting of up to 30 hours per week. Evening and weekend availability are required. The starting rate for this position is $12.50 to $15.00 per hour, based upon experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Start up and shut down planetarium system.
• Presenting planetarium shows during normal business hours in addition to special events such as weddings, birthday parties and business meetings.
• Maintaining a clean work space in the console area in the dome.
• Engaging with the public about astronomical topics.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to speak to the public in a performance type capacity.
• Ability to work with children.
• Astronomy knowledge preferred.
• Computer experience preferred.
