Summary:
The Lube Technician will ensure the repair and maintenance of Fessler & Bowman’s fleet collection. You may also assist in working on other equipment which could include heavy machinery and smaller equipment. Working with the Mechanic and Yard teams, the Lube Technician is a crucial part of making sure Fessler & Bowman’s business runs smoothly. The following descriptions are representative of, but not limited to, the expectations for the position.
Five Key Roles of the Lube Technician:
- Preventive Maintenance Execution: Perform scheduled lubrication services, fluid changes, and filter replacements to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
- Equipment Inspection & Issue Identification: Conduct basic inspections during service and identify potential mechanical issues before they lead to downtime or failures.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and environmental guidelines when handling equipment, fluids, and waste materials.
- Documentation & Reporting: Accurately document all maintenance performed and report findings to supervisors or lead mechanics.
- Equipment Readiness & Support: Maintain service tools, lube trucks, and work areas, and support mechanics and operations to keep equipment job-ready.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled lubrication and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, trucks, and fleet vehicles.
- Change engine oil, hydraulic oil, transmission fluids, and filters.
- Grease equipment and components according to manufacturer specifications.
- Operate service trucks and lube equipment safely.
- Keep tools, service vehicles, and work areas clean and organized.
- Communicating and upholding the Company’s commitment to Integrity and Code of Ethics.
- Other relevant tasks as assigned.
Education, Experience & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- 1–3 years of lube or preventive maintenance experience on heavy equipment or trucks
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
- Ability to work independently in field and shop environments
Travel:
Travel to surrounding job sites may be required for this position. Fessler & Bowman will compensate for travel when applicable.
Work Environment:
As a Lube Technician, you will be subject to various work environments. Environments include but are not limited to the following: high/low temperatures, areas close to traffic, loud and frequent noises, confined spaces, heights, indoor/outdoor settings.
